Tracing is the procedure for obtaining information on routers (hops), through which packets to the chosen computer. Routing allows errors to be detected, and the primary provider is connected to the hosting provider.

Traceroute is often used for network troubleshooting. Displaying a list of all the points of the traversed path, it allows the user to determine the path to reach a particular destination on the network package. This can help identify routing problems or firewalls that may be blocking ICMP traffic to the site. Traceroute is used also for testers and gather information about the network infrastructure and IP ranges around a given host. It can also be used when downloading data, and if there are a few mirrors, you can check each mirror to get a good idea of the mirror that is faster to use
